Meet the Project Manager

As a part of the project Stockholm Ström, Ellevio develop the power grid between Beckomberga and Bredäng. The new HV system consists of 420kV cables and includes both land and submarine cable. The submarine cable system comprises of nine single core HVAC-cables and four FO-cable bundled/attached during installation. Meet our Project Manager Johannes Axelsson, currently working with the installation phase in the Ellevio 420kV Cable Project Beckomberga-Bredäng.

 

What is your role in this project and what does it include?

In this project I work in a dual role, as Project Engineer I have been involved from early stages during the tender phase, working with installation spread conceptual design, development of method statement, time plan, budgets etc. During project preparation and execution, I have worked with detailed engineering, development of installation procedures, risk assessments and technical documentation. As Project Installation Manager I am supervising the marine operations and supports both vessel and installation team in any operational tasks required. I’m also responsible for progress reporting and to keep the client’s representative informed about the operation.

What is your background and how/when did you end up at Baltic Offshore?

My background is from both the maritime and telecom industry. After military service as radar technician I studied telecom engineering and has been involved building network infrastructure as fibre technician and network engineer. Before moving on to the merchant navy I took a bachelor degree in Nautical Sciences and has gained experience from several positions in shipboard operations. I joined Baltic Offshore in 2015 as a combined navigational officer (DPO) and cable engineer. Since 2017 I have worked in different roles both onshore and offshore, managing projects and supporting our organization on all levels.

 

What are the best parts of being a project manager at Baltic Offshore?

Being responsible for managing and supporting all aspects of project installations is an exciting and very varied work. Summed up you could say that working with an experienced and engaged team on different projects, with different customers and organizations is both a challenge and great opportunity to learn and grow.
